Better directions for Delaware cats who need help.

A cat-first directory of local rescue, Trap-Neuter-Return, foster/adoption, shelter, veterinary, and community-cat resources—organized by county and meant to help you make the right first call.

Use the right first call

What kind of cat situation is this?

The best next step depends on whether the cat is outdoor/unsocialized, friendly and possibly owned, injured, or part of a larger colony.

1Outdoor colony or unsocialized catStart with a TNR/TNVR contact. Look for an ear tip first; it often means the cat has already been sterilized and vaccinated.
2Friendly stray, kitten, or adoption needFirst check whether the cat may be owned or lost. Then contact cat-focused foster rescues and ask about space before transporting.
3Injured, abused, or immediate dangerFor severe injury or urgent medical distress, call a veterinarian. For cruelty, neglect, or official animal-control concerns, contact Delaware Animal Services at 302-255-4646.
Important: Call or message before trapping, transporting, or surrendering a cat. Intake space, clinic dates, fees, trap loans, and service boundaries can change quickly.

A few details make help easier

Before you call, collect the right information.

AFor TNRHave the town, number of cats, photos, ear-tip status, feeding schedule, whether kittens may be present, and whether you can hold cats overnight after surgery.
BFor friendly catsShare photos, approximate age, behavior, location, health concerns, whether you have checked for a microchip, and whether you can foster or transport.
CFor a colonyThe usual goal is to fix, vaccinate, ear-tip, safely recover, and return every cat to its original territory—unless a rescue approves another plan.
